Have a new 110% visibility is great, but the 150% ginny you're as blind as a bat.

Re: Can you see under your headsail?

We are an out and out offshore situation and so our foresails are set so that the drum is at the level of the top handrail (some 2 ft above the deck). Like this, you have full 360 view from the cockpit also with the fore sail all out.

Re: Can you see under your headsail?

As with so many polls, if I take a moment to think about my answer, I can't vote. It depends upon my point of sail, sail selection, heel and even who is at the helm.

Re: Can you see under your headsail?

Pic as promised....

My only issue which i don't think is unique to this anchor is that I have to put my foot on the chain as the shank is going over the roller to stop the chain jumping off the vertical axis gypsy/wildcat and to stop the shank smacking the roller furler drum.

( the black thing growing out of the anchor is the next boat's power cable).

Re: Can you see under your headsail?

Latitude 38, Max Ebb, had a good article called "Mind the Gap" about advantage of decksweeper to higher clew/foot. Always fun to read that Max. It's on page 102. Most cruisers won't care about the amount of advantage but you be the judge...

Sorry, guess I should have made a third, "sometimes blocked" category. Then again, maybe I should have left the poll out completely and just listen the discussion.

I do appreciate all the responses.

Re: Can you see under your headsail?

I have an excellent view of the entire horizon with my 140 genoa out.

Of course right now I am facing the stern.
