Cape North 43 (Ted Brewer)

I have a question which is probably directed more to the people who have or no of the Ted Brewer design Cape North 43 Cutter Rig.
We have just found some old pics of our 43 Cape North. Old pic show it as a ketch, it is now a cutter rig. We know the cape norths were built as both ketch and cutter rig but curious to know why ours started off as a ketch but now only has one mast. Mainly interested in the history, it is Cape North Ketch number 6, built 1976 in Hong Kong. If anyone has any info please let me know.
Thanks.

I Still own a Cape North 43 Cutter, have original docs on board, Built 1975 as a cutter. I have owned her for 30 years.

Re: Cape North 43 (Ted Brewer)

Below is a link to the original brochure for the Cape North 43s. The North America importer was Dwight Isbel, who along with his spouse, Maxine, returned to the USA in 2002 following a 17 year circumnavigation aboard sv Concordia (1978 cutter). We purchased Concordia from the Isbels in 2002. Dwight passed away in 2011.

Why yours was changed from a ketch to cutter is likely best answered by the prior owners. The deck mold for Concordia has the socket for the mizzen.
