Caribbean plans

Hello all!

I am currently planning a sailing trip from SF, Ca to Caribbean Sea . A few boats I am looking at are a hunter 20-2 and Vancouver 25 as well as a Catalina 30. Any suggestions? Hunter 30-2 is the most reasonable for me price wise.

Thank you in adavance!

If you're looking at being in the Caribbean on a sub 30' boat, you might wanna start out in Florida. just sayin'

I agree with DDabs. Lots of similar boats available in FL and the Bahamas are just 60 miles away.

Re: Caribbean plans

Thanks for replying gentlemen. So you think a hunter 30-2 should do the trick? Survey listed it as a coastal cruiser so my main concern would be the jump from Panama into the Caribbean Sea

Re: Caribbean plans

The 'jump' eastward from Panama into the tradewinds, seas, and current is one of the toughest passages on the planet. I'll give you 10 to one odds that you will not make more than 250 miles east of your starting point.
