Sounds like a question for the surveyor.

Re: cavalier 395

trying to find a surveyor isn't that easy! just wondering if anyone had experience with them and could give any input on what to look for. Ive sailed a cavalier 32 and found them to be a great boat.

+1.

They are a great well built boat.

However as above comments the individual condition of any given boat is going to vary and in what is now a 30 something year old boat the condition of stuff like keel bolts probably says more about past owners maintenance regimes than initial build quality.

Re: cavalier 395

Before I bought the boat I have, I was looking closely at a Cavalier 44, designed by Laurie Davidson. The boat was very well built and the stainless work was superb. As luck would have it, Laurie Davidson was in San Diego and spoke with me in detail about the boat. Apparently, there was some ‘misunderstanding’ between the boat builders and he but he agreed that it was of superior build quality. The people selling the boat refused my offer only to sell it later (to a guy I know) for less than I offered. I’m delighted with the boat I bought.

Fair winds and calm seas.
