Never did like Seaborn's "eye for beauty much", but cool photos none the less.

Really? Don't see how anyone could think this yacht was less than stunning, but to each their own. Perhaps I'm biased, I obviously like big heavy motorsailor ketches....

Re: Check out this Ocean Going Machine!

Yeah, probably just me, but it looks like spare parts from three boats to my eye! a pinched stern, a big square box on top and a rounded bow with lots of sheer forward.... nothing like a Herreschoff etc....

Maybe she just doesn't photograph well, I wonder what you'd think in person. Some boats are like that, especially big ones.

Although I am not familiar with the designer or the builder, have to agree with you on your taste. The only thing nice I can say about this boat is that it is big. I don't find it pleasing to the eye at all.

Just sailed up from San Diego, caught her at the fuel dock. She was built at Vic Franks in the late 50's, but spent most of her life as a Hollywood boat, as Peter Fonda owned her for many years.

Re: Check out this Ocean Going Machine!

Interestingly, the owner told me that his passage north was a fluke, as he was able to hold a single tack for 600 miles up the coast, with the wind out of the NW and WNW all the way. Sounded like a great trip!

Re: Check out this Ocean Going Machine!

I'll just throw in a few shots of the Nevada Faye again from a slightly better angle as well...
