Choy lee 31 "offshore"

Just aquired a Choy Lee 31.. wondering what the pro's and con's are to regesteration VS documentation.. living in California..
No plans to cruise as yet, maybe in the far future........

In the long run documentation is the way to go, especially if you intend on cruising outside the US, and for that matter even in the US....not having to pay the annual taxes and fees registration requires.

Sadly, Documentation will not rid you of having to pay the taxes on your boat in California.

Or most other states anymore. If you never plan on leaving the US, Documentation is an uneccessary expense, (and big paperwork hassle). But if your not sure Document, see other threads for hassles other cruisers have had for cruising under state registration alone, (not recognized by other countries).
