Coaming compartment leak - any bright ideas?

Hi all, in my 1983 Catalina C36, there is a heavy leak from the joint inside the starboard coaming compartment.

The gap is about 1/2” the whole way around and it was previously filled with about a full roll of butyl tape, and prior to that some silicone. I have cleaned it out (nearly) and am curious about a really effective way to stop the dastardly leaking!!!

The leak drains to the aft cabin next to the locker on the starboard side of the boat.

Any help is appreciated!

These fellow C36 owners may know the precise cure for your issue. I'd just fiberglass it if it were up to me.
