Consider a 50 footer for single handing?

I’ll be in the market this fall for a boat in the 45-55 foot range that I want to be able to single hand when I need to do so. Most of the time I will have a crew. I want a boat that will safely cross the Atlantic and I can move from port to port in Europe as a home base that we can stay on while knocking around Europe. I vacillate back and forth between cutter rigged and ketch rigged, simply because the options those sail plans give you when you need to depower the sails.
Right now I like the looks of those Amel Super Maramoos. (That changes almost weekly...). So what am I not thinking about that might be a good choice?

People certainly do it.

You know yourself and what you need better than anyone else.

It’s a whole lot easier than you think it might be. Length isn’t scary as long as you have things well set up. I only single hand and it’s been a piece of cake. I’d probably want a bowthruster for Med mooring single handed, but we don’t do that down here so it’s never been an issue.
