Cyclades 393 vs. Sun Odyssey 43 DS

Hi everyone,
I’m new here and already seeking advice so I apologize.
We’re a young couple who wants to spend a sabbatical in the med mainly at anchor. After months of boat visits we nailed it down to 2 and it would be great to hear where you think value for money is better:
- Beneteau Cyclades 393 from 2007 for 75000
- Jeanneau Sun Odyssey Deck Saloon from 2001 for 85000

Thanks already,
Tom

Re: Cyclades 393 vs. Sun Odyssey 43 DS

I've sailed a 393 with in mast furler and wing keel. It was the worst sailing monohull I have ever been on. At some point you will need to weigh anchor.

I'm not a big fan of the DS looks, but I would take it over the 393. Of course, there are different cabin configurations. I assume you have found the best configuration of each for your needs.

Instead of value for money, I'd be basing that decision on the one you prefer to spend time on.

Given your short term perspective on it, a few thousand either way is less important than enjoying your vacation.

Overall, I think those are in the same category in terms of boat, and either will meet your needs.

I've never been a big fan of any of the Cyclades series as to my way of thinking they were built down to a price, probably just fine for charter...my gut says you'll do better on resale with the Jeanneau. One man's opinion

Why not just charter?

Thanks a lot for your answer. Do you think a built for charter boat is a bad decision for the given timeframe?
