Yeah the toughest thing about the boat is finding trust worthy info, which makes me nervous about buying one. Still it seems like a really nice boat, I love the lines particularly for a trailer sailor. So far haven't found a nice catalina or starwind in the same price range with a trailer, thought the Dehler doesn't include an outboard. Seems like it harder to find a trustworthy trailer at a decent price vs an outboard though. My gut says I'm safer to wait for a more well known/documented boat to come up that works for us but I really do like the looks of the dehler.

Re: Dehler 22 - Thoughts?

Trust your instincts. I always buy the boat that I like the look of, and never regretted it once. Also, the more that you research anything on the net, the more reasons you will find for not buying that particular item. If it looks good to your eyes, it is probably the right boat, and it's shortcomings can either be ignored, adapted to by you, or modified to suit.

Re: Dehler 22 - Thoughts?

You're quoting my own site. (sailboatdata.com). It's not an AD!
I was more interested in how the water ballast actually worked on this boat.
The owners manual doesn't mention it.

Dehler 22. Boat tests. Download this article.

Dehler Owners>Forum

Hope this helps.... searching Yahoo.co.uk may be more helpful than Google as they're EU boats...

Barney Post, if sailboatsdata.com is your site all I can say is thanks a ton. I've found the site to be an excellent resource when researching potential new boats. For instance i would never have guessed the Catalina 25 is nearly double the trailer weight of the 22 if I hadn't compared the two on your site.

Kudos
