Do I always need use glow plugs on my betamarine diesel ?

My betamarine diesel has glow plugs.

If the diesel starts easily without glow plugs do I need to use them ?

Any harm if I do not use glow plugs ?

Thanks !

Re: Do I always need use glow plugs on my betamarine diesel ?

Usually glow plugs are only needed on a fully cold start. If my Universal 5424 has been run to fully warm on the same day, they aren't needed. The harm would be if you had to crank excessively, which runs the twin possibilities of flattening the battery and backstreaming water into the cylinders with catastrophic results. Never crank continuously for more than a few seconds..
