Having owned foam (not Airex) cored and solid glass boats I much prefer the insulation value that helps our furnace when we winter in Toronto and the insulation value that helps our a/c when south.

It certainly seems to depend on the foam. I did have some issues on the deck which had a layer of carbon fibre under the paint and the deck was very uneven. I assumed it was from things being dropped on it, but maybe not.

Hull paint don't bother much but don't paint the deck or top sides like cabin tops. Especially if you are going to the tropic. Your feet will burn off.lol

Re: Does Dark paint affect foam core hulls

I surveyed a 40ft foam core yacht here in Queensland Australia. The white hull was fine but the front of the cabin corners that were painted black to make it look like a wraparound window were badly delaminated. The day of the survey the corners were very hot to touch and just with a finger you could flex the fibreglass skin in and out.
Cheers

Knowing the type of foam seems to be the key. It seems safer to go with a light colour
Thanks for the input
