Does your boat list?

Hi,

On my cabo rico, all the storage of significance is on the port side. My batts sit on starboard but thats about it. The result is that now that we are weighed down for living aboard and cruising, the boat lists about 1.5 degrees to port.

Its a little disorienting. The first time I noticed it I thought the boat was sinking.

Anyone else have this issue?

Everyone has that issue unless they have ballast tanks.

My catalina 27 list about 3.5 to port. It was 5 but I moved everything I could to starboard. Looking at the keel bolts in relation to compression post they seem to be offset a tad to port.

The good news is the boat seems to sail better on a port tack, the bad news is does not do as well on a starboard tack.

Re: Does your boat list?

I primarily have to manage my fuel among two starboard and two port tanks to minimize list. About the worse: after filling the starboard tanks.

When we started it did. It also hobby horsed and rocked like a pendulum. We moved everything heavy on the boat according to performance rather than convenience and then she started sailing like a dream.

Sww914 has the right of it here, "We moved everything heavy on the boat according to performance rather than convenience and then she started sailing like a dream." If you follow that advice, you should be able to eliminate or at least get rid of the list.
