An 82 Tayana 37. Even considering the work she needs, I got a great deal on her.

Re: Finally Got My New Boat

Congrats and enjoy the one of two best days of boat ownership.

The Tayana 37 looks like a great boat.

What are your plans for refitting. I think folks like to hear.

Fantastic Kevin!!!!

You sir have picked a winner!

All here hoping that your refit goes smoothly and you only need 3 pockets for the $$$ .... Saving a little for the celebration...

Re: Finally Got My New Boat

New bottom paint, new chainplates, either repair or replace the mast, recore the deck, new running rigging, convert her from hanked on sails to roller furling, new interior cushions, new batteries, and possibly update her refrigeration along with any other projects that pop up along the way. But seeing as I got her for only 15k, I'm not complaining.

Congratulations! Looks like you have your work cut out for you but, um, like aren't you forgetting like at least twenty items on that list? Just kidding, good luck with your project!

EXCELLENT!

I'll be over for a spin in two weeks....

15 ain't bad... You have a chance to come under market value if you do most of the work yourself and bargain shop... A buddy of mine picked up a 36 Union in pretty decent shape for 25 though... But it ain't a Tayana in name...

What's wrong with the stick??? Wood???

Just about the saltiest boat you can find outside of a Bristol Channel Cutter. Call me weird but the deck prisms always send me when I step on on a 37. I just love those.

On thing is for sure, if you're not an expert varnisher, you will be soon.

Nice! Be sure to leave the deck alone in the places that aren't wet.

Re: Finally Got My New Boat

Yeah, wood stick. Its got dry rot right at the base of the mast. Fortunately, the boat has never had teak decks. And I'm sure I left about 50 things off that list. Those were just the highlights.

Agreed!

Also somebody had an awesome set of prisms here for sale a while back... VERY reasonable... I almost bought 'em just to have for some possible future need...

I have ZERO experience with wood sticks... But have heard "eye opening" miracles with repairs.... If staying with wood... Investigate thoroughly... I for one tend to "work with what I got" if practical... gives a good starting point, and a clear path...

Congratulations...We chartered one years ago in North Carolina. We loved it, lots of storage and it sailed well in the 50 knots of wind we had ( inshore no big waves). Post some pictures
