Frers designed Nautor Swan 48

Hi,

I'm hoping to find another owner of a Frers Swan 48 that uses it for cruising. I was hoping to get your input and thoughts around the boat after having owned one.

Some of my questions:
  • Do the two cockpits get annoying?
  • Is there enough storage for food/gear for six total crew while cruising for 2-3 week periods?
  • Is there enough space in the fridge and freezer?
  • Is there enough storage for sails, dinghy, spares, and other gear while cruising without cluttering the cabin storage?
  • Anything you love? Anything you hate?

I'm far along in the process in purchasing one, and just wanted any advice prior to pulling the trigger.

Thanks!

Two cockpits? Do you mean companionways?

Should be enough space for food and gear for a few weeks.

It would help if you showed us what boat you are looking at. Some Swans came in different configurations. Some of that era had one big aft stateroom, others have two smaller ones. You said 6 crew but how many couples sleeping together?

We have a 43 Swan Ron Holland design and the storage is nowhere near what you would have on a 44 Pacific Seacraft or an Island Packet 44. If the boat is sloop rigged you could put the dingy on deck.

The boats are meant to be fast blue water racer-cruisers and the emphasis is on making long and fast passages.
