Full keeled Bluewater ketch for 70K$ ??

Hello everyone!

I'm actually making a list of the boats that would fit for me for Starting a life of live aboard sailor.

I am searching types of solids full keeled Bluewater ketches for up to 70 000 bucks.
If possible with aft Master bed or 2ppl rectangular bed somewhere and a good sail/disp ratio.
I've already made some searches and found some boats on the web, but i think there's nothing like hearing actual experiences of sailors with the actual boats!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Re: Full keeled Bluewater ketch for 70K$ ??

I have a Formosa 56 fin keel (for sale), and see many benefits to having a fin keel in the open ocean (except the draft when near the shore). There are also Formosa sailboats available with a full keel in various sizes.
In my opinion when permanently living aboard comfort (size) and aesthetics (nice wood) are greatly beneficial to how enjoyable the experience is in the long run. In addition the sailability is important for when it is time to go cruising.

Perhaps you can explain more of what you find important in a boat.

Do you mean one of the actual Bluewater Ketches? There is one for sale in Port Townsend right now I believe. These boats are aging so many need quite a bit of upgrading to be ocean ready, factor that in.

Or maybe you mean a ketch capable of open ocean sailing, in which case I'd still recommend the Ingrid over most other production ketches!

It will not have the aft stateroom though, if you really want that you are probably going to end up with a center cockpit.

Indeed, WoodenKetch, an actual bluewater ketch - we sailed it from California through French Polynesia (taking our time there to see these beautiful islands, and on) to Hawaii (and now for sale in Honolulu).
Very capable, and it does have an aft stateroom and center cockpit, which I personally like.
