Get Diesel Stove Working

Bought a 40' sailboat that was neglected and sat for 3 years with no love Trying to get the Diesel stove working, but don't know much about them. It's a Dickinson Adriatic. Read the manual. We can get it lit, but it doesn't stay lit as the fuel isn't feeding properly. We think the day tank (which came with fuel in it) is likely got sludge on the bottom, which is probably interfering with the feed (fuel pump from main diesel tank to day tank, then gravity feed to stove.) We'd love to get this thing going but don't even know where to start. Any suggestions out there? We're in the Bellingham, WA area. Would love to be able to hire someone to just come and get 'er done.

I would clean the day tank and then put new fuel in it. The tank will probably have to be removed for cleaning.

Re: Get Diesel Stove Working

Aren't there any filters between the tank and stove? If not there should be. Look for one - it may be blocked. Otherwise put one in. Check for fuel at the carburetor by loosening the hose and let the fuel flow into a container. The basics before tearing it apart...
