Golden Globe Race - Cap'n Coconut

Mark Sinclair, aka Cap'n Coconut, from Australia is currently completing the second half of the 2018 GGR Race in the Chichester class. He is racing under GGR rules = no modern technology. When he arrives in Europe he will prepare for the 2022 GGR.

I always find it really interesting to follow a yachts track during an extended ocean passage. Here is a link to Mark's tracker, his yacht is a slow one though & doesn't often break through the 6kt barrier.

Wishing him a safe passage.

Re: Golden Globe Race - Cap'n Coconut

Doesn't look like he's going to win.
He pulled in to Adelaide for two years because of barnacles slowing him down? Hope he's been able to find some antifouling paint so it doesn't happen again.

Yes...He can certainly do without anything slowing him down. Looking at the various trackpoints on his route his SOG is often much less than a fast walking pace which must be so damn frustrating & would mean being out there much longer & encountering more unfavourable weather events.

Better luck for him in the 2022 race which starts in September.
