Smile Greetings to all and Cabo Rico Question

Hi everyone. I just joined the forum. I have a question that I hope someone can answer. Is Cabo Rico Yachts still in business and taking new orders? I heard that they joined with a company in Nova Scotia in 2011, but haven't been able to find any newer information. Their website is still around, but I'm wondering about the status of the company itself. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance. I'm very much into blue water cruisers, both sail and power, although I'd have to say I favor sail more. If anyone would like to talk to me about these type boats and related topics please feel free. So long for now.

Re: GREETINGS TO ALL AND CABO RICO QUESTION

Cabo Rico Owners has an active site on Google. Perhaps some one there has kept up with Frazier Smith. I heard he was trying to restart the company in Nova Scotia. You can join the group and ask the question. Also a Broker at Annapolis sail yard Richard Kahn? I believe keeps track of him.
Good Luck

Re: GREETINGS TO ALL AND CABO RICO QUESTION

Thanks a lot for your reply. I appreciate it. I went to that Cabo Rico forum on Google but I couldn't post a question or comment, for some reason. Perhaps I'll try to contact someone from the Cabo Rico website, if it's still functioning.

Re: Greetings to all and Cabo Rico Question

According to wikipedia:
“... Construction of Cabo Rico yachts slowed significantly in 2002 and 2003. By 2004, only a handful of new hulls were being produced. With diminished orders, cash flow was insufficient to maintain a full staff at the Ft. Lauderdale headquarters. Vendors pressed the corporation for payment of past due invoices.

Production ended, for all intents and purposes, in late 2006 or early 2007. While orders for several boats had been taken, few were started. None were finished and a series of lawsuits against Cabo Rico were filed in the courts of Broward County, Florida. Plant personnel in Costa Rica were terminated and the plant closed with three unfinished boats on the production floor...”

Pleas let us know what you find. It would be good to know if Cabo Rico is still around in some form or incarnation.

Re: Greetings to all and Cabo Rico Question

I just talked to CR about a month or two ago about my rigging... they are still around. Give them a call, they are very helpful.
