Help Identify Boat

Hi, Looking for help in identifying the make/model of this boat. Looked to be 20-24’ in length. Sailing on the Potomac river in Alexandria, VA so I suspect it has centerboard or shallow keel. The cabin was wrapped in wood.

Re: Help Identify Boat

Beautiful little boat but I have no idea what design she is. The bow is reminiscent of the bow on the traditional schooner Bluenose.

Re: Help Identify Boat

She has the bow of a traditional “knockabout” from New England. She is very similar to some of the models built by Cape Cod Shipbuilding, in particular the Marlin designed by Sidney Herreshoff.

I think OldManMirage has it right. Boat seemed a little longer but the Freedom’s cuddy seems pretty distinctive.

The profile appears dramatically different.

Nope, not even close. One has a spoon bow, the other a straight bow. One has a counter stern with inboard rudder, the other a transom hung rudder. Plus the cabins don't match.

Not even close to a Freedom.

Re: Help Identify Boat

It looks a lot like a Freedom...if it didn't look a lot like a Freedom I wouldn't have made the mistake. And we still don't know what it is for certain.

I still reckon it's a wooden boat.. that stem extension above deck level is not something one see's on plastic fantastic's.
Circa 50's/60's.. or a replica from plans.

Re: Help Identify Boat

I don't know but I like the idea Orion Jim had about a Herreshoff design possibly. It reminds me of the Bear Boats from San Francisco bay which were designed in 1930.
