Help identifying sailboat

I purchased a 30' cutter rigged sailboat last summer - no hull id number can be found. I'd like to know the manufacturer/sailboat model and designer. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I live on the coast of British Columbia. Palantir is 30' with a 3' bowsprit (33' LOA) - built in the early 70s(?) - cutter-rigged - tiller steering - full keeled - round portholes - Penta MD11C engine . . . if you need more info let me know.

It looks a bit like a Vindo 30. Not sure. Built until 1975

Re: Help identifying sailboat

Well, I love a good challenge, but I am stumped. Looks like we have a new one for the Plastic Classics group! The keel reminded me of a Rhodes design but not sure. I know it is not this one but I'll keep looking.

Re: Help identifying sailboat

The cabin has a 1/4 berth on the port side running under the cockpit - the galley is on the starboard side - wet head on port after salon - v-berth. She is built like a tank.

Re: Help identifying sailboat

Since it has a registration on the bow is it not possible to view the registration records at the issuing authority?

Re: Help identifying sailboat

A lot of the trim does not look like it was done in a factory, more like it was custom made by hand. It could easily be a hull and deck that was finished by the original owner.

I tried looking up the number on the bow with no joy . . . I spoke with the branch of government that issues these numbers and they couldn't help me.

My first thought is that it is a backyard build by a professional boat builder/designer . . .

Re: Help identifying sailboat

Did you purchase it locally? Does the local tax authority still have it on the books? They usually have access to data to allow them to perform inquiries with several forms of cross checks to ferret out tax cheats. An in-person inquiry makes it much harder for public officials to take the easy path and provide little or no assistance.
I would have thought a title or registration would be required as proof of ownership before a sale could take place.

Re: Help identifying sailboat

Do you have any other pictures?

Particularly one of the stern/rudder area would help.

And, interior layout may not be indicative, as there were boats of that era that were sold as both kits and finished boats.
