help me id this boat

Does anyone have an idea on what this boat is. The person that sales it claim that it is a Hunder 42 passage from '97. I doubt it is, so can you help?

Hunters commonly have a B&R rig with swept back spreaders and no back stay.

HINs By The Numbers
ABC: This is the U.S. Coast Guard-assigned manufacturer identification code (MIC).
12345: This is the serial number assigned to the hull by the manufacturer.
D: This is the month of certification, indicating the month in which construction began. "A" represents January and "L" represents December. In our example, "D" means April.
4: This is the year of certification. The number is the last digit of the year in which the boat was built. "4" in this case designates 2004.
04: This indicates the boat's model year.

Hunter Marine was an American boat builder, now known as Marlow-Hunter, LLC, owned by David E. Marlow.
Manufacturers Identification Code [MIC]
HUNTER MARINE CORP MIC: “HUN”
MARLOW-HUNTER LLC MIC: “MHL” or “MMT”

Try a Columbia something or the other! I think the company was bought by Hughes in Canada way back.
Bonne chance!

Re: help me id this boat

I think it is a Coronado 41. I buddy sailed with one of these boats for awhile. While I personally found it to be perhaps the ugliest production boat ever produced. It did have enormous living space below with lots of headroom. The deck was also a joy to work on. Still, I personally need a boat that meets my aesthetic requirements. If you don't think your boat is beautiful rowing away from it on the hook, you will never truly love it.

Re: help me id this boat

The Coronado 41 does not have a porthole in the aft section of the cockpit, and the subject boat has ports that are forward of the mast, which the Coronado does not have.
The Coronado 41 was last built in 1975, so the 1997 date also doesn't fit. There was an English boatbuilder called Hunter Boats (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_Boats) but none of the designs listed in the article match the subject here. They may have built a one-off, but it does not appear to be a US-made Hunter. Ask the broker more questions.

Re: help me id this boat

IIRC neither Hunter nor Columbia sold boats with teak decks. Looks more European than older US designs to me.

Re: help me id this boat

Certainly not a Hunter, at least not the American Hunter. Could there be a European builder using the same name?
