Help me identify a boat

Hello,

saw a nice boat today, couldn’t identify it and there was nobody around to ask. Looks sturdy, with the proper keel and the rudder on the skeg. Also these funny fins on the keel, never seen anything like that before (not a high bar of course, i’m as new as it gets)

That's a wing keel with some serious wings!

This link has a picture with a similar keel, but does not actually give any details about the boat.

Oh, and to the forum

Happy to be here!

Thank you for giving the proper term 'wing keel'. It took some googling, but I think I identified the boat: looks like it is a Contest 43 (https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/contest-43/).

Yes, Dutch built. Good boats even though I don’t like the keel. We considered buying a Contest 55 in the early 2000’s but the yard’s owner p|ssed me off with his arrogance (he never realized that people in T-shirts can afford his boats too…)

I agree it looks like a contest. Great boats (but I am biased)

I just checked out the Contest 43, that boat is AWESOME!! If I put that keel on my boat, it would lift right up out of the water I think?

If the yard owner doesn’t appreciate sailors in T-shirts, he’s writing off about 90% of his potential customers.

Yes, but the wait list was long enough anyway. Many of those boats are sitting in marinas to impress business relations, customers etc.
