Homemade Mast Steps

After three design attempts, came up with a step that is both lightweight and very strong.

Hope it helps anyone thinking of doing the same.

Re: Homemade Mast Steps

For simplicity that seems pretty great. I wonder about putting a second flange on the opposite side of the step. And if you really wanted to get crazy with it you could put lights under the steps. Though I'm not entirely sure what that'd be good for, except more holes in your mast and more wires to run and maintain. But it'd be neat!

Re: Homemade Mast Steps

Nicely done, sir! How far apart did you install them up the mast? I presume you installed a double pair near the top of the mast so you’d have a more comfortable perch when doing any work on the masthead. Would you mind sharing a copy of that diagram from your video? Some of the dimensions are a little hard to read, at least on my iPad.

Reagards,
David

Thanks David,

Spacing was 16 inches apart, two at the top as you say.

I have inserted an image file for your reference.

Cheers,

Dave
