How to fashion a homemade dinghy sling?

I recently purchased an Endeavour 37 and want to make my own dinghy sling to hold a 9 foot inflatable, which only weighs about 75 or so pounds. I've seen a dinghy sling advertised for $245, which sounds pretty cheap. However based on comments from someone who ordered one... it is pretty cheaply made too and not worth keeping (he returned it). How hard can it be to make my own? Anybody done that and satisfied with the results? If so, do you have plans on how to make it? Thanks for any help.

Re: How to fashion a homemade dinghy sling?

I have one of these Dinghy Slings for my boat and it has worked out great and held up for me for over 3 years now. It looks like a large floating cargo net that you float your dinghy over and then pivot up and into the transom. What I like the most is that I did not want to attach hardware to my swim platform or dinghy. Price was cheap but the quality was not. I considered trying to make one of these myself too but it looks like it would take a lot of time trying to find all the hardware and sewing it together. I just decided to try it and was happy with it after I learned how to use it. I figure if it did not work out it was not too much money and I could use it for other things.
