I have a tall rig! Yay!

I couldn't recall if my westsail 42 was a tall rig or standard. Turns out, she's a tall rig. Yay!

Also - my boom measured quite a bit over spec dimension... so, I'll double check that next time i get out to the boat. I wrote down 19'... which, 2.5 feet over seems like a notation error. any who...

All great news for Puget Sound sailing.

Bad news, sail budget just went up.

Hope your all making the best of it right now.

Yes, tall rigs are lovely for light air sailing. Good choice, mate.

Let us know what length the boom turns out to be.

Be well.

Re: I have a tall rig! Yay!

You can reef a big rig down, but you can't UN-reef a short rig up.

Unless you sail in an area with unceasing strong winds, IMO a big rig is always a benefit.

You can put a big stick up, but it is a bit inconvenient to get it down to go under the next bridge

No biggie. Our friend is in Seattle. Clearance under the bridge at Deception Pass is 145 feet. North of there we don't DO bridges :-)! 'Cept Lion's Gate Bridge at Vancouver, of course, with a clearance of 200 feet.

Boom matches the rig dimensions for the oversized mast. 19'8"
