Imelda

Hi, we have a Nicholson 33 (1976) only taken her out on river twice to test her. Second time weather rough. Noticed after berthing that about 4 inches of water was in engine compartment. All seacocks had been cleaned and greased by us recently. Any idea where this water could have come from? Much obliged.

check your stern gland on the prop shaft, and the stuffing box on the rudder stock.
might also be leaking impellor lipseal,or exhaust water lift leak.

could also be water that was unseen before trapped and migrated to rhe bilge after rocking and rolling.
have you tasted it,if it is fresh water may be from a tank or rainwater(i assume you sail in salt water)
