Re: Installed new rigging, keep old?

I went roun' and roun' about this too cuz I just hated to see the old stuff go. I ended up keeping one long one, but it sits in my garage. I thought about the jackline idea but stepping on it ain't so great.. I went with webbing for that.

Re: Installed new rigging, keep old?

Don, you're right, it can roll under one's foot. 'T was why I suggested running them along the side of the house, but on the deck. We used them on our first Insatiable, the old lowers, as jacklines, lashing them really tight fore and aft, and made a point of avoiding stepping on them. We could have used webbing, had a good source, at 25 cents the foot, but then you have to take it up all the time you don't need it to prevent sun damage. If you use your old lowers, they can just stay there. In any case sloth trumped flat webbing.

Zee's right about the wire having many potential uses, plus it's already paid for, which is a virtue in my world.
