Insurance for owner builder

Hi,

Need help in finding an insurance company for my home build Van De Stadt Forna 37 while I deliver yacht to marina to complete final items before launching.

Forna396, you will probably have to get a survey to prove you have done a good job. Once you have a current survey, you should be able to shop around and find an insurer. Pantaneus is usually a good insurer to deal with.

Insurance for owner builder

Insurance cover to transport a partially finished boat to a marina assuming it’s not going immediately into the water is not something marine insurance usually covers. This is more in the realm of shipping or trailer insurance.

In water insurance will be a different matter entirely , you really need to have sized up an insurer before you even begin building so to minimise Re work.

So far the insurance people I spoke too want a complete boat or professional build hull.
I will keep looking

Marine insurance will not cover an “ in build “ as this isn’t a boat , it’s a construction project

Transport insurance is what you want, nothing to do with a boat. It’s a specialised subject if you are doing the hauling yourself as it’s normally covered by the haulier.

You may find it impossible to cover
