Islander 32, 1965

Looking at a good condition Islander 32, the first model. I like the lines, the keel hung rudder. SA/Displacement, Ballast/Displacement ratios look good for a cruising boat of that vintage. Have had a hard time finding any real world feedback, the current owner used it more as a weekend getaway. I guess main concern would be build quality. I know they were an offshoot of Columbia, and I believe the early Columbia’s were pretty good builds. I am aware of the downsides, such as slower and less interior space than the more modern designs. Main use would be coastal cruising the Gulf Coast with the occasional hop to Mexico and Northern Caribbean. I have limited experience with Ericsson’s and Cals of similar length and consider those build qualities pretty good, at least what I can tell as a non owner.
