Just in to Alameda CA, any cruisers here?

Hi folks. We're at the Alameda Marina and I'm wondering if there are any cruisers around to meet? We brought the boat down from Port Townsend WA almost two months ago but we are not heading to Mexico this year. We've had a great time in San Francisco but now I'm looking for the cruising community. Anybody want to say hi?

I would imagine most cruisers have flown the coup, south. However, If you go to Svedsens Marine, you'll probably find a few there.

Marina Village had a finger devoted to liveaboard cruisers, once upon a time.

Welcome, we're just up the Estuary in Grand Marina. Just had a cruiser who was docked next to us pull out for Mexico.

Haven't seen any around other than those folks.

Hope to see you out on The Bay.

Welcome Annie, Future cruiser here. I'm across the way at Fortman Marina. Most everyone scoots out and down the coast in late Sept or early Oct.

Cheers, Mike

Hi Annie,
I pulled in on Sept 10th but flew back to Seattle. Will be down for the Thanksgiving weekend. Say hi to Brock!

We are in Berkeley marina. Usually once every other month we have a raft up at treasure island with the other "cruisers" fun time. We don't plan on leaving south for another year. Just got in from Seattle. Check out clipper cove. There is always some kind of cruising boat heading south anchored there.

Re: Just in to Alameda CA, any cruisers here?

Hi folks. We spent yesterday exploring Alameda and doing some chores. What a nice town! The houses are charming, there are lots of parks, and one marina after another. I was impressed with svensen's chandlery. They carry a lot of parts that I would typically think one would have to order. We checked out West Marine with their rigging shop.

I think we're going to move on to Fortman's Marina today with their good rates for a few days. Mike, if you see us come say hi. Our double-ender is named Tappan Zee. Looks like a 35' Valiant, but it is a Coast 34. Delmarry, we left Port Townsend about when you arrived here. I followed your posts on the Forum. It would be nice to meet you. I do miss our wonderful Boat Haven home in PT. Stu, it would be nice to meet you, too. I'll PM you. Jon, when's the next rendezvous? We stopped by Clipper Cove to check it out on the way here and I know we'll anchor out there sometime. We plan to stay in SF for another year too.

Thanks to all for replying to my post. Annie

Re: Just in to Alameda CA, any cruisers here?

G'Day Annie,

Ann and I are stuck in Livermore (25 miles inland) for a while, and our boat is in Hobart patiently (I hope) awaiting our return. If you are going to be around Fortmans for a while, perhaps we could stop by next time we are in the area and have a chat.

Do enjoy the Bay area whilst you are here... we did for many years prior to going cruising.

Cheers,

Jim

Re: Just in to Alameda CA, any cruisers here?

Jim, that would be great. We have taken a slip at Fortman's through this Sunday but I think we'll be back here after doing a little cruising, perhaps up Napa Valley. We like it here. Friendly people and a volunteer yacht club.

I check Cruisers Forum several times a day, so if you post or PM me I should see the message.

Annie, while you're at Grand, stop by Blue Pelican. You might see something you like or think of something you might want to sell. It's a great place and it's full of stuff.

Re: Just in to Alameda CA, any cruisers here?

Hi Annie, welcome to Alameda! We are at Marina Village and really enjoy it here (both Alameda in general and Marina Village). If you like exploring on foot there is a nice path/trail along the water that goes from Grand Marina past Fortman Marina, Encinal and Oakland yacht clubs, and Marina Village. It ends at Pasta Pelican which can be a nice spot to have a glass of wine while enjoying the view of Jack London Square across the estuary.
