Kiwi Prop

Hello sailors.....we have a Catalina Morgan 45 (97) with a three blade fixed prop. We are thinking of going to a feathering prop to enhance sailing performance. Has anybody used the Kiwi Prop from New Zealand. I would appreciate feedback.

There is at least one thread on Kiwi Props here already...give it a search.

I have Kiwi Props (2). Good product. Good Support. Forward power/speed about the same. WAY over propped in reverse. Big diff in sailing performance (vs. 3 blade fixed). Easy to remove/install underwater.

Thanks Belize. Tried a search before I posted.Lots on props but nil on Kiwi props. They didn't do that well in a 2009 test I saw (compared to other featherers) but I kind of like the idea of non-metallic blades.

Might try a search under "feathering propellers", "max prop" (& other spellings of same), & reversible pitch props, ditto phrases like "kiwi prop efficiency". Also Jim Cate knows quite a bit about them IIRC. So you might ask him to weigh in on this thread.

BTW, have you tried using the Google customized search feature here on CF? As it give me lots of results on the topic. Click on the triangle in the blue bar, where it says search, & a sub-menu will drop down. And type in your phrase into the provided, appropriate search box. Of which there are several types.

Most owners here are quite happy with them.
