Lello 34

Hi all
I have recently become the proud owner of a Lello 34 yacht.
She was built in South Africa and has circumnavigated at least twice by her last owner and an earlier owner.

Does anyone have any info about these yachts ? I'd love to learn more more about them.

Also I am a fibreglass newbie , my last yacht being a 42ft wooden gaffer , so...any tips on the care of f/glass and sailing bermudan sloops also welcome

thanks

Re: Lello 34

Coconut was up for sale here in Adelaide, so I expect that is the one. Very solidly built hull on that boat.

Re: Lello 34

Hi Johan
Thanks for reply.
Yes I have bought Coconut
Good to be in touch with another lucky Lello owner, I bought her just over a year ago and she sails brilliantly.
Would be good to keep in touch with you.
I believed that there are a few Lello's in South Africa.
Regards
Pete

Re: Lello 34

Hi Johan
Thanks for pic's.
Are a great help. "Coconut's'' waterline was raised [ for her extended voyage with previous owner ] and I wasn't quite sure where it should be.
"Double Helix '' looks a beauty and I've picked up a few ideas from her [ hope you don't mind ? ]
I will put up some more pic's soon.
Oh and Happy New Year

Re: Lello 34

Hi Pete,

I hope you have a great new year. You mentioned the waterline on coconut was raised for the extended voyage, what is the pourpose of that?

I have just replaced two of my old GIBB winches with Lewmar st 44's and I am very excited to take the boat for a sail this weekend and try them out.

One of the problems I find on my boat is the steps in the companionway that also covers the motor. You need to dismantle all of it everytime I want access to the motor. I have a friend who is a boat builder and he suggested we build new stairs out of fibre glass and make it one unit for easy removal.

If you don't mind me asking I would appreciate if you could show me some pics of your Spray dodger, also planning to build one for the day that we will go on an extended sail.

Thanks for your responses, and if you need any details from my boat just let me know.

Johan
