Looking for Male Sailing Partner in Annapolis

Ready to tender an offer to buy a sailboat.
Looking for a partner to teach me how to handle the boat and look after the boat in Annapolis during the week while I am at work in Washington DC.
You can live onboard if you want:
28' and not alot of room
you must be clean and squared away in the head
no alchohol or drugs allowed on the boat.
thanks
steve

Are you Mormon or Muslim?

Doubtful you'll find many takers with your advert.

I agree. I can understand no drugs as that can lead to seizure of your boat but alcohol has been part of the sailing community for the past 400 years. Sharing a beer or some wine is common. You are being unrealistic.

He said no alcohol on his boat. That's his privilege.

No need for anybody else to stick an oar in.

Re: Looking for Male Sailing Partner in Annapolis

I will say the no alcohol was a little odd especially in the boating community. But in his defense, the 2012 Coast Guard 1 in 7 boating accidents were alcohol related. I think I could give up drinking on board for a free place to live but that's me. I'm cheap.

There are a of of boaters 1/2 step away from a 12 step program. It will be a search but not that difficult. Perhaps you should seek someone just to help you learn and not be much more... just thinking

Exactly. I'm relatively new here but this forum is BRUTAL! OP didn't ask anyones opinion on what kind of boat mate/sitter. He made an offer. Pretty generous by most standards. If you're not interested, ignore him. But you guys pretty much flip him the bird. WTF? Chill out...

Sure, the OP can offer the position with the requirements he pleases.

Actually, I never understood the phrase, "Drugs & alcohol".

Isn't that much like saying , "Animals & cats?"

No offense to the Scots, but I reserve the right not to allow plaid on board if that's my choice. ...ah,- no problem, bring on the plaid and the scotch, but no anchovies!

[MyKindOfHijack]
Anchor in New Haven harbor, walk over to Pepe's Pizza on Wooster street and order a large pie with onions and anchovies. You may not finish the pie cause it's huge. But you will, without a doubt bring the leftovers, anchovies and all, back to the boat. Guaranteed! (BYOS*)

Well, We've drifted far away from Steve's search. 'seems like this could be an attractive offer for weekdays in Annapolis.

Re: Looking for Male Sailing Partner in Annapolis

Annapolis is a drinking town with a sailing problem. For that reason, you'll probably be able to find someone who won't bring alcohol on the boat. There are lots of recovering alcoholics around here lol.

But, do you have any idea what you're getting into, sharing a 25' boat with a stranger? It's sort of like sharing a closet. Good luck with that.

Re: Looking for Male Sailing Partner in Annapolis

Am looking for a man to stay on the boat during the week while I am in DC working.
The boat is too small for 2 men living together full time.
I would need a larger boat for that.
What do you mean when you say in the 1st sentence ..Annapolis has a SAILING PROBLEM.
I know Annapolis is loaded with drunks because I grew up on South River in the 50's and my father was one of the drunks.
Not sure what you mean by SAILING PROBLEM?
I am thinking about coming back to live on a boat but I have some reservations.
I see alot of sailboats just sitting around and not being used and in poor condition.
