Looking To Buy A 40

hello to everyone,

i started sailing not long ago, and decided to buy a boat. i really appreciate it if anyone can give me ideas about 409 jeanneau 409 and dufour 405... both seemed very close to me, but couldn't be sure with which one to go... Any experiences with any one of them, any comments and ideas are all appreciated... thanks

I don't know about the Jeanneau but on the Dufour you will find various brass, chrome plated brass and copper fittings attached to throughulls. Some of the copper elbows will be marked "CHINA". The throughull fittings are NPS thread and ball valves are NPT thread. On Beneteau's you'll find the same thing so I would not be surprised to find it on Jeanneauss' too. Do a google search on "brass seacocks beneteau" and you'll find lots of info on this idiocy and check out this article from Yachting Monthy which explains the whole situation.

Pardon this little spoof but a B40 is better than A40.

Excellent! I know it had oil in the bilge. Wouldn't mind having this one.
