Looks Like I Close on a Boat Tomorrow :D

It's a small pocket cruiser, an MFG 19, and it's got some minor stuff still....I need to finish up a cabin redo, but structurally and rigging wise, it's excellent. New mast, older sails, but reasonably good sails. Full set of 4, a #1 Storm Jib, a Running Jib, a 170 Genoa, and the Main. Standiong rig is new, as well. Fixed shoals keel, and self righting in a blowdown. Small cockpit to length ratio, and good bailers on the cockpit. It's also a trailer-sailer boat, which meets my needs nicely.

Clear title, good trailer, paper trail on the trailer, as well. There won't be any registration issues. Best part: The guy is moving to Maine and has a bigger boat there, and is motivated to sell. I'm getting in the boat for under a Grand! Maybe another $400 in work to do on it...or less, if I can find some good sheeting winches used. We'll redo the cabin area to suit ourselves.

Meet the Pocket Cruiser "Candide"! That's what I'm naming her. I took it from Voltaire's book, Candide. Yeah, I know Candide was a young man, but his philosophy was optimism above all else, and he journeyed through the book. Candide is a symbol of my journey, as well and who or what is more optimistic than a sailor?.

She's a 1975, and a bit of an orphan boat. There were only a few hundred of these boats made. She's pictured above. I seem to be having upload issues tonight.

Re: Looks Like I Close on a Boat Tomorrow :D

Progress on the refit: I'm waiting on some bits of sail tackle to get here. Meantime, I refinished my locker lids and the bilge cover today....just in time for a storm, which led to a rapid tarping of the still tacky varnish. . I had to strip out the cabin, it was full of mildew....not surorising for a boat that was out of the water for a year or so.

I also selected the naming graphic and used GIMP to slip it in to the position on a photo of the hull I want it in, and I'd like a little feedback on what y'all think of it.
