Loss of a Southern Cross

The Sothern Cross Tribulation II had been bought by me in Carolina beach. She was sailed by me to Scotland via Antigua Montserrat Guadeloupe and Bermuda the boat was re fitted in Scotland over five years then after twelve hours of sailing was run on the rocks near portavadie marina. I am sorry for destroying such a beutiful boat. Will be in Dunoon sheriff court Monday to answer charges against me.

Oh no. So sorry for you. I guess if you are being charged you can't discuss much detail.

What model Southern Cross ? Pretty rare boats, hate to see one go, but glad you are ok.

IT was a Southern Cross 31 and I am charged with beating up the guy who put it on the rocks while I was asleep. Completely my fault no one to blame but me.

Ahh.. now that I am on a PC instead of phone I can see your boat in your profile. I guess there are circumstances where a slight beating might be justified...

I think much of the blame is on the guy who trashed your boat.

(you did leave him in charge, so I guess that's on you)

I am sorry for the loss of a boat that you put so much love and effort into restoring. As you admit, the liability is always the masters.

May I suggest the Darwin defense? “Your honor in another time, this man would have been shot- thereby removing his genes from the human gene pool. A case of natural selection if you will. As I did not feel there was legal grounds for removing his genes, I instead attempted a degree of behavior modification. I assure you it is u likely he will crash another vessel and create the ecological hazard crashing this one created.”

This may not get you off, but it should at least get a smile on the codgers face.

Re: Loss of a Southern Cross

Ah the wreck at portavadie comes to light , sorry for you loss , but the rumours around this wreck in Scottish circles is that drugs and drink were involved , but we all know about rumours
And you deserve to be charged for hitting someone violence is never the answer , although we feel like doing it control is the best way forward
spent a year in therapy to control my self and now find that laughing it off , walking away is better unless there is a need for defence.
And that is why I endorse Insurance

It is noble that you are accepting the blame in all this, but the courts will not be impressed. I urge you to get legal representation before making any statements or appearances.

Sorry for your loss amd following troubles!
SC 31 is a beautiful boat, as I'm sure you are aware there is a YouTube channel where a sailor is on a SC31, engineless!

I'm not sure your doing yourself any favors publicly admitting fault, honorable yes but if theres legal ramifications it maybe best to keep quiet, I'm not suggesting lie but I'm not sure what you benefit via being so open....no offence intended just sometimes being honorable serves no one.
