Re: Lost at sea..

I remember seeing this boat for sale around a year ago. It never sold and was eventually taken off the market maybe 6 months ago?? The ad indicated the owner retiring from sailing after 60 years. Sounds like the same guy. Sure hope he turns up too.

Similar thoughts were running through my mind, due to his reported age. Interesting that he is stated to be a Florida resident, while the home port reads Philadelphia ... and he was headed for Maine. Maybe a potential buyer, with a post-sale lobster dinner ... with baked Maine potato and steamers. "Pass the melted butter, please." Maybe he's now on a container ship, headed for Port Clyde. The summer lobster season is a bit away, yet nice lobsters & steamers there.

Lost at sea..

Whether the peeing overboard statistics have a hard source or not, they are logically ballpark if you consider reality based on experience. I know lots of guys who do this even when they know better, and have seen someone go over the side offshore while taking a leak. 1) Guys pee off the side 2) standing on the rail offshore with one hand on your John Thomas is high risk, period.

I agree with Mark. I really doubt the owner was peeing over the side. I suspect something happened with his dinghy coming loose on the davits, he went back to take care of it, and went in. But who knows.
