Re: M5, an interesting sight in Portland harbor (Maine)

man (or woman, these days) who prepares the drawing is, if s/he is English, a "draughtman", and if s/he is American, a "draftsman", "draftswoman" or "draftsperson
Draughtman is a typo. The word is Draughtsman

Her loads are massive; they tension the rig with
a vertical ram which I understand is set to about

60 tonnes. Getting the main to a correct trim
can be quite difficult.

I used to own her.

Sold her when the ashtrays became full.

Bought an island.

That’s a lot of yacht, I’ll bet they’re paying attention to the stability tables since a similar vessel from the same designer (Ron Holland) just sank with astonishing rapidity during an encounter with a storm cell off Palermo Sicily.

Aside from the semantics of hijacking a thread over a grammatical issue, she draws 33.5 feet! Can we talk about how insane that is? How much ballast must she have and how much sail area are we talking about? The winches must be enormous! Can you imagine tuning a rig with 5 sets of spreaders?
