Need a mast extrusion

Hi all,
We need a piece of mast for our silboat. We are raising the mast by about 18". The section needs to be 9 7/8 " x 6 1/8" . Our current mast is 65'. Looking for any information on getting this manufactured or salvage. Can anyone help?Click image for larger version

Re: Need a mast extrusion

Your vessel is a Ted Brewer design and Ted passed away a few years ago. He still has a website so it may be worthwhile to attempt contact as someone may respond. The designer would have had the specs and manufacturer of the extrusion.
As a last resort most any small machine shop can obtain a piece of solid aluminum which can then be milled to your masts contour to fit both the I.D. and mast step dimensions. The center can be drilled if needed for a wire run.
Locating an identical mast section for a forty year old vessel will be challenging at best. Good luck.

Re: Need a mast extrusion

I'd wait for a good hurricane to hit Florida and take a hacksaw. You might find heaps of broken masts still at boatyards around Tampa from the last hurricane. Is the mast keel stepped? If so, you won't need a perfect fit as it's only 18". You could even have a local guy weld something up from aluminium plate for short money.

If you don't mind my asking? This seems like a lot of work just to gain 18". And if you intend to stay in the US, it will make your boat too tall for ICW bridges. Will reduce your potential buyers on resale.
