New B36 looks like a clinic

New Beneteau First 36 interior - is this inviting or does it look like a hospital clinic?

Re: New B36 looks like a clinic

I don't mind it at all. Comfort and ease of use mean more to me than anything visual, but I work in an area where clients these days will focus all their energy on the visuals often at the expense of practicality....drives me nuts!

I don't like it at all, looks like the cheapest Ikea furniture range.

That is ugly.

Re: New B36 looks like a clinic

It’s a boat built for one purpose: racing.

The interior needs to be light weight, cheap to build, and low maintenance.

While tastes vary, I could not live in that space. If you want a pretty cruising boat, you’re looking at the wrong hull.

I hear what you’re saying, but it were really for racing it wouldn’t have doors or an oven.

It wouldnt stay that sterile looking for even 10 seconds after we got to the boat. There would be all kinds of provisions, clothes and boat equipment strewn about. Does anyone actually have a boat that unlived in?

Re: New B36 looks like a clinic

Love it! But I've always liked the Pogo's simple interior too.

We started off cruising in the typical teak filled monohull of the 80s. Next boat we built all the furniture in wood (Cherry), but kept the bulkheads in white to lighten the interior. Our new build will have even less wood - and what little veneer we do have will be a light colored species.

Even in high-end builds, we don't often see wood paneling in homes anymore. So why do we want it in the tinniest place we're likely to every live - our boats?

Matt

I'm assuming that's not a photograph, but a computer generated image, which makes it look much more sterile.

Ahhhg! Looks like my idea of a torture chamber. I wouldn’t last 2 minutes in there.
