the one we have is the one in the forward cabin locker where we have all the life jackets... with a bit of port heel the locker comes open... very annoying!

also the on in the aft cabin leading to the engine room doesn't want to work at all.

will be at the boat the weekend of the 18 september so will see if suggestions will work.

thx

It wasn't the flashy chrome push button latches that got me at the boat show, it was the two steering wheels and lack of spars and rigging, it all seemed so simple.
Just jokin'

same problem

We have a 43 Beneteau 2008 and the latch on our drawer also quit working. Our dealer had latches available in the office and we replaced it but the fact that they were in stock with the dealer seemed to indicate something!

We just bought a 2000 Beneteau 40 CC. Many of the cabinet and drawer pulls will not open. We don't want to damage them in trying to get them opened (and either fixed, or replaced). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
This is obviously a common problem.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Can you take a photo so we can see the type of latches?

Thanks

We have a draw we can never open. Its because one of the crew has it so damn stuffed full of chocolate!

Kennjackie,

Try giving the cabinet door a thump with the heel of your hand. Then push the button. If that doesn't work, thump it and then push in on the door to relieve pressure on the latch, while pushing the button.

Latches

Our latches look like the pics Gr8trn posted. We will try the method suggested by Hud3 (to get the cabinets opened). The one cabinet with a sticking latch that my husband was able to get open, he took apart and cleaned yesterday. He said there was gunk but not grease.
Hopefully we will have success. It's frustrating to have this ample storage that we can't access!
I would be even more frustrated if it was a new boat!

Thanks for your help.

Re: New Beneteau Oceanis Range - Push Button Latches

The problem is the small white plastic "spring" with two legs. If you look closely, the spring will have one leg either cracked or broken. This stops the cam from cycling properly.
I'd love to know what people have done to replace this little spring, as it is a very common fault, and probably an easy fix.

Old thread, but:

I'd expect them to be generic latches, not unique to Beneteau.

Mine are very similar but a different case profile.

I bought a pack of 10 replacements through AliExpress (at around $4 per unit). They have a wide range of them.
