Re: Northeast US yard recommendation for bottom job

If you’re willing to go to Forked River, NJ I highly recommend Silver Cloud Marina. I’m currently having the bottom done on my 44 PowerCat and have been very impressed. I called my Pettit Rep with questions and was pleased to discover that their standards go far beyond the what slit of yards provide. They are a big sailboat marina and are very professional. Our beam is almost 19 feet and they invested in longer straps for their travel lift to more comfortably handle us. You can also do as much of your own work as you like. I know Barnegat Bay isn’t especially deep but if you come in either at Manasquan Inlet ( easy in) or Barnegat Inlet you’ll have deep water all the way to the travel lift.

Thanks vanderd, I contacted them today and awaiting their call back. It is pretty far from me so inquiring at nearer places too.

Called Spicer's today and had them put me on a waiting list.

As you said, they may not have space for me but it is the closest so I hope they can accommodate me. They got a lot of haul outs after Isaias and are gonna stay through winter.

Can someone please shed some light on these questions? Or, what is the sequence of coats (material and number) after sanding down to gelcoat?

Thanks.
