Opinions: Irwin 39.

Looked at a Irwin 39 and fell in love today.

I know they have a reputation for poor quality but some claim they are good and say the others are just haters.

I'm 6'4" and I can stand in main cabin. LOVE THAT.

So much more boat than I can get anywhere else in the price category (sub 15k) I'm looking at.

The Tartan 34 I came to Florida to see sold before I got here.

The engine on this boat was professionally replaced with a used but newly overhauled Perkins Diesel.

The centerboard is missing.

The deck felt very solid.

The price is very good.

All opinions welcome.

Have you wondered why this is so? Could it be that the haters are right?

Worth some thought IMO.

Re: Opinions: Irwin 39.

The Irwin 39s haven’t aged well, largely due to low construction quality.

Better check those decks with more attention.

Re: Opinions: Irwin 39.

Looked at a lot of boats this week.

Didn’t like the tartan 34 inside. Not much room.

By far my favorite is still the Irwin.

Everything 34 and under just seems so small. Have me wife 9 year old and one on the way. Plus we will probably bring brother in law on board at some point. For a while.

The Irwin’s engine was also only one that looked good out of all the boats I saw. Was not able to get on a cat 34 or tartan 37 though.
