The admiral deserves all the credit for the upholstery and will be pleased with your comment. It is indeed very comfortable and easy to clean.

Cheers,

Thanks for adding the videos and drawings.

Unfortunately I cannot view those videos on my iPad (something about unsupported video type Message). Hopefully others will not have the same problem.

The videos work on my computer. Hopefully, they work for others as well. Original videos were in m4v format, but had to convert to mp4 or else the forum would not allow upload. Am new to this so may be wrong.

Re: Outstanding Boats - A Special Selection of Unusual and Noteworthy Boats I Find

There is a wise saying about sailboats:

"It is not the age of the boat that matters most, it is the condition that matters most."

Keeping in mind that wisdom, when I am looking at boats I look for style, design, asking price, location, features, and most important of all, condition.

You Know that it is easy to see older boats that are neglected and have deferred maintenance. The smart boat shopper will look for a boat in very good condition, and will be willing to pay more than average for that boat, because a boat in very good to excellent maintenance condition, regardless of age, is one that is very likely going to cost less to own in the long run.

Here is a boat that appears to fit the description of "Well Maintained."

I saw this boat and was impressed by the condition shown in the photos. It looks outstanding, and so I am including it here in this thread about Outstanding Boats.

Aside from condition, this is also a boat that will likely please many sailors who may be looking for a comfortable boat for coastal cruising and possibly live-aboard. The interior of this boat looks especially nice, and with the large deadlights (windows) in the cabin, it offers lots of light and views.

But, there is more to it than just pretty cushions and nicely maintained teak wood interior. I was also struck by the clean and orderly anchor locker and the hidden systems areas too. Very nicely kept and exceptionally clean. That is a good sign. To see what I mean, go see the photos on the sale listing. There are several that show how well kept this boat appears to be. I will post just a few below, but there are more on the listing.

SV TRANCE,

I just tried to view the newly uploaded videos using my ipad over a high speed internet connection (on which I view videos all the time).

I could not get them to play.

Here is the message I received in a dialog box over the video player:

The video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported: http://videos.oogala.com/show_video....moRka0bIF5qHqb

MAXI 72 "Cannonball"

I think a good name for this boat would be "NARWHAL" (and I mean that in appreciation for that white whale with its sleek form and beauty and pointed tusk up front). So, a compliment.

Another photo of MAXI 72 "Cannonball"

And why I would have named this boat "Narwhal."

Re: Outstanding Boats - A Special Selection of Unusual and Noteworthy Boats I Find

Blue Moon Yawl

Steady's Notes:
This boat caught my eye. It is a small boat, but one that looks like it would be fun to sail and own. Some wood boats are like that, full of character and more than just a hull and sails.

I happen to like Tom Gilmer designed boats.

And I like boats with a Gaff Rig and a bowsprit. Like this one.
For me, as an artist who paints boats, I find the look of a traditional boat or a gaffer appealing. Just one of those personal style things that either appeals to one or not.

And of course "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder."

I think you and I think alike!

I would love to have more than one boat, as they each offer something different.

At this price, it does seem hard to pass up. It really looks like a sweet little boat for some fun on the water.

I do hope this listing helps another CF member find a new love (boat). And if so, I hope they will post and let us know in the future. (As you did, Alan. Thanks!)

A word of caution. This is a disease. I've got 4 & can't stop looking for another one. I'm sure glad Blue Moon is far far away from me.

Steady Hand, may I ask who painted the picture of the pretty little yawl? We see it at the end of the boat pictures.
