Re: Pearson 10M

Hi Matt, I know you will enjoy your 10 meter. We live in the Miami area and had her out in 20-25 kt. winds on the Ocean and she handled very well. I was used to a 1976 Pearson 424 Cutter/Ketch so I was skeptical of the 10 Meter. We made several trips to Newport R I from Miami with the 424, 11 days on the outside straight thru. I want to do this with our 10 Meter next. We do not have a composting head so I can`t help you with this. Fair Winds

Since we're already resurrecting the dead, I wanted to point those interested to a very active Pearson owner google group https://groups.google.com/g/pearson-boats
Dan Pfeiffer is one of the more active members there.
All the recent posts about the 10M in heavy weather comports with my experience with my '77 (hull 174) in Deale, MD. Love this boat.
Yes, she needs some TLC, but she reciprocates.

I found this thread while looking to see what size headsails other 10M owners have for higher winds 20-30 knts.
I'm thinking about a dacron tri-radial with an LP in the 95-100% range.

Also participate in the google group mentioned above.

Always happy to talk about Pearson yachts, the 10M in particular.

Re: Pearson 10M

Concerning the composting head. I built one into my 10 m. Basically just took the commode out, boxed out the area, installed a toilet seat, urine diverter, and a bucket. We line the bucket with a trash bag and use cedar shavings mixed with sawdust from Home Depot as a medium, plus I set up an exhaust fan. Works extremely well and cost about $200 in materials.

Re: Pearson 10M

P10M are great boats. If you want a better living space/cruiser look at P323. A bit slower than a P10M but great liveaboard boat.
