I did buy the Pearson 27 and have started to clean it up the the bilge is coated in old motor oil any suggestions on how to clean it up. And does anyone have a recommendation for a good bilge pump

Dawn dishwashing liquid seems to be the go-to stuff for oily bilges.

Bilge pumps: KISS, don't go for the electronic ones with integrated switches. Get a simple separate float switch for a simple Rule pump. Why? The new ones do not suck, they just suck...


Bilge clean? Start with household stuff like Dawn or Simple Green before you go more aggressive.


Good luck, enjoy. Once ya get your head outta da bilge, you'll really enjoy your new yacht.

Thanks I will try that initially I was going to use a engine degreaser but concerned that it might ruin all the tubing
