Pearson 365 Ketch - Bimini and Davit Mounting Points

We have just become the proud owners of a Pearson 365 Ketch (in Australia).
Can anyone help with photos and any problems associated Bimini's and Davits?

Re: Pearson 365 Ketch - Bimini and Davit Mounting Points

Hi, we also own a 1979 Pearson 365 ketch. We do have a bimini installed that is just a tubular frame type, 3 tubes going across under the fabric and all going down to just one main tube that is mounted to the cockpit caps aft of our winches. The bimini was made to fit underneath the mizzen boom and is easily folded down. The bad part of it is we have no "skylight window" so you can't see what your sail is doing, as the whole set up is tied to the aft part of the mizzen mast, while the aft of the bimini is strapped to the aft railings. It does cover most of the cockpit in nice shade though. I also installed some removeable davits. The base plates are permanantly installed on top of the aft cockpit rail on each corner. They work well but I need to get the davit plates rewelded to accomadate the angle of the rail, they are splayed out a bit and it makes the ropes bind when lifting. I used starboard backing plates on the underside of the cap, realitivley easy with two people. I may re-think the whole thing and build a davit arch that extends out past the end of the mizzen boom so I can mount solar panels and wind gen. and still have a swim ladder back there. Any questions just ask.
