plexiglass...how thick?

OK, I'm redoing my sliding hatch. Pretty sure I want plexiglass over lexan. Please correct me if I should have it the other way around.

How thick should the plexiglass be? Half inch?

Here is a link to the place I found online
https://www.estreetplastics.com/Grey..._2064_s/80.htm

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: plexiglass...how thick?

Lexan will scratch more but is tougher. You could use 1/4 lexan. Plexiglass will not scratch as much and 3/8 out to do it. Try bending a piece in each material before purchase. If someone wanted to break into your boat they might be able to bend a piece of plexi or lexan enough to gain entry somehow.
kind regards,

I don't think lexan holds up as well in the sun. 3/8" Plexi seems about right for something about 2x2.
