Portlight Lenses-Clear v Tint

Several of the portlight lens on my boat are broken. So I am buying replacement lenses.

The boat is in S Florida.

What are the thoughts on clear versus tinted lenses? My instinct is to go tinted to keep the cabin cooler. Anyone put tinted in and regret it??

Any input will be appreciated.

Curtains keep my cabin dark and cool. Be aware that tinted may hamper your visibility in anything other than bright conditions. I look out from the cabin often through the night when anchored or at a strange dock.

Re: Portlight Lenses-Clear v Tint

I replaced my portlights before last sailing season. I ordered gray tinted lenses, and I find them perfect for my use. They mute the harshest glare, and they do not noticeably obscure vision through them at night.

Tinted, because it will cut down more on the UV that gets below--and you can still have privacy curtains if you want.
